Course Objectives for PILATES INSTRUCTOR TRAINING:

The PILATES INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE is an excellent learning opportunity for anyone who wants to train as a Pilates Instructor, and for anyone who just wants to know more about the Pilates exercise method.

  • During the 2-day seminar, participants will obtain a working knowledge of the purpose, benefits, target population, history, terminology, anatomy and principles of the Pilates exercise method.
  • Participants will be able to demonstrate 56 Plates movements with proper technique and body alignment.
  • Participants will be measured by a practical demonstration and a 100 question written multiple choice exam with a passing grade of 85%

This training is approved for 7.25 AFAA CEUs and .7 ACE CECs.

Maximum 7 participants per Training Session.  For the most intense and personal learning experience, the Pilates Institute of Maryland will allow a maximum of 7 participants per Instructor Training Session.

The cost per participant is $299.00

"The Pilates Instruction Manual"  is a 69 page illustrated book which accompanies the training and is included in the price. The manual sold separately is $25.00. If the manual is purchased separately and the training is taken later, the cost of the manual is deducted from the price of the training.

DAY 1

  • 8:30am- Check-In/Registration
  • 9am-10:15am- LECTURE - Definition, Purpose, Benefits and History of Pilates
  • 10:15-10:30am - Break
  • 10:30-12 noon - LECTURE -Principles of Pilates, Anatomy and Planes of Motion
  • 12 noon-1pm - Lunch (Lunch will be provided)
  • 1pm-1:45pm -Lecture -Terminology and Tips for Matwork Exercises
  • 1:45-2:30pm THE EXERCISES - Body Awareness and Beginner Exercise Programs
  • 2:30-2:45pm - Break
  • 2:45-3:30pm - Intermediate Exercise Program
  • 3:30-4:45pm - Advanced Exercise Program
  • 4:45-5pm - REVEIW /END DAY 1

DAY 2

  • 8:30-9am - Review Day 1
  • 9-10am - Pilates Masterclass w/visualization techniques
  • 10-10:15am - Break
  • 10:15-11:30am - Practical Application - Each participant will be able to demonstrate in a group setting, selected Pilates movements with proper alignment and technique. Critques and discussion.
  • 11:30-12 noon - Review for Written Exam and a short break
  • 12:30-2pm - Written Exam - a 100 multiple choice questions
